How to make a Minecraft block gradient

A block gradient arranges materials in a gradual color transition. It is useful for shading a large wall, blending terrain, or adding depth to Minecraft pixel art.

Pick your endpoints

Choose your Minecraft version, then select a start block and an end block. The generator finds an eight-block transition between them. Swap the endpoints to reverse the direction, or select Random for a new starting combination.

Compare texture and contrast

Follow the blocks from left to right and look for sudden changes in brightness or pattern. A smooth color transition can still look uneven when a strongly patterned block sits beside flat concrete. Try a different endpoint if a step feels too sharp.

Use the gradient in your build

Select Copy to get the ordered block list, or Save as Palette to open these blocks in the palette builder. Test the transition in your world, where lighting and the size of each block patch affect the result.
